The 2017 G20 summit was held on 7–8 July 2017, at Hamburg Messe, in the city of Hamburg, Germany. It was surrounded by protests, violence and riots by anti-G20 and anarchist demonstrators. In total, police arrested 186 people, 225 people were taken into temporary custody and 231 police were injured. On the 9th of July, locals came out in their hundreds to clear up the mess and repair the damage left by the riots on previous days.
