The road from Kashmir to Ladakh lies on the border of Northern India, Pakistan and China. It is passable only for a few months in a year. On this way there is a mountain pass in the Himalayas called Zoji La which is situated at a height of 3,528 m.
In 2014, when the road was just opened, the traffic could take place only one-way: one day to Ladakh, the other day to Kashmir. The reason for this were the frequent snow avalanches that blocked the road and were dangerous for travelers.
